3D TV launched despite headache fears
12/3/2010
Film director James Cameron defied suggestions by doctors that 3D visual effects can cause headaches as he helped launch a range of 3D TVs.The Avatar director was at the advent of Samsung 3D TV sets in New York yesterday (March 12th), declaring them to be "the future" of TV, the Daily Mail report.
However, the paper noted, this comes after warnings earlier this year that the technology can cause headache problems, quoting Dr Michael Rosenberg of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, who warned some could struggle with the effects.
He had explained that minor sensory imbalances between the eyes can be harder for the brain to correct when faced with 3D images, causing headaches.
Those struggling with frequent headaches may find that using ultrasound therapy helps to ease the condition.
Avatar's 3D technology won it two academy awards in the recent Oscar ceremony, these being for art direction and visual effects.
