Back pain has ruled England cricketer Graham Onions out of the first Test match against Bangladesh that starts on Friday (March 12th), it has been revealed.

The seam bowler, who was a member of the Ashes-winning party and also toured South Africa earlier this winter, will miss the clash between the two countries in Chittagong with an injury he sustained earlier in the tour.

Onions was forced to sit out the warm-up match against Bangladesh A due to the problem, with fellow bowler Stuart Broad also struggling with an injury in the same area.

However, Broad has bowled in the nets and may yet play, with his fitness to be assessed before the Test.

Those suffering with back pain may find that using ultrasound equipment helps to ease the swelling and discomfort in the area.

It will be the second time England have played a Test match in Chittagong, with the previous clash in 2003 seeing the tourists record a victory by 329 runs.
