Bad pillow arrangements 'can cause neck pain'
16/12/2009
Neck pain is often the result of arranging pillows inappropriately, it has been stated.Chiropractor Dr Raymond Hall commented: "After 25 years as a chiropractor, I found a pattern from my patients who complained that neck pain 'suddenly appeared when (they) woke up one morning.'"
This led to him concluding that pillows were a problem.
Dr Hall argued that the difficulty can be caused by pillows being stacked too high, pushing up the head and causing additional strain to the neck, when they should support the collar area instead.
This will boost blood flow and help repair muscle damage, the expert concluded, noting that better pillow arrangements can also help people to sleep more.
Those who suffer from neck pain may find that ultrasound treatment helps them to tackle the complaint.
People with wide shoulders and neck problems are often advised to use two pillows, as well as undertaking exercises.
