Those suffering back injuries have been advised on how to strengthen their "core" muscles, which experts say are crucial in the battle against back pain.Writing in the Daily Telegraph, expert Lydia Sherlock of Core Strength Studios advised that there are four actions people can take.
These involve the roll down to strengthen the spine, two types of leg raising exercises and the front support hold.
She said that these would collectively strengthen the muscles and provide a bulwark against pain.
While such exercises can help many people, other actions might also be necessary and this may include the use of ultrasound machines to help deal with pain.
One person hoping to overcome a bout of back pain is footballer Jamie O'Hara.
The Tottenham midfielder has been on loan at Portsmouth this season and hopes to play in this weekend's FA Cup final despite suffering a double stress fracture in his back.
He said he is due to have a painkilling injection and told the club website he and manager Avram Grant will make a late decision on his fitness to play.
