Footballer Kieron Dyer has vowed to make a successful comeback from his bouts of injury.

The West Ham player, who returned to action at the weekend after missing recent matches with a hamstring injury, told reporters that he has had to overcome severe setbacks that some people do not appreciate.

He commented: "Everyone has forgotten that I had probably a worse leg break than Aaron Ramsey and have had four operations to try to get it right."

Dyer's words came after one of the club's new owners, David Sullivan, suggested the 31-year-old former England international may have to retire as his infrequent appearances did not justify his salary.
