Everton in Fellaini ankle injury
9/2/2010
Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini is undergoing a scan today (February 9th) to discover the extent of his ankle injury sustained in the Merseyside derby at the weekend. The Belgian suffered the injury when he was fouled by Sotirios Kyrgiakos, a tackle that led to the referee sending the Liverpool player off.
An initial check at the ground showed that there was no break, but further examination is taking place to establish what other damage may have been incurred.
"He has been taken to hospital for a scan, fortunately the X-ray (at Anfield) was clear," Everton boss David Moyes told the club's website.
Those troubled by ankle pain may find that using a cheap ultrasound machine can provide relief from the discomfort of the problem.
Kyrgiakos was not the only player to leave the field early as Everton's South African midfielder Stephen Pienaar also received a red card after being booked for the second time late in the game.
