Fast bowler Friedel de Wet is facing a battle to be fit for the final Test between South Africa and England in Johannesburg, which starts on Thursday (January 14th).

The South African paceman, who made his debut in the first Test of the series in Centurion, has had a scan on his back to establish if he will be able to play at the Wanderers, where the home side need to win to avoid losing the series.

De Wet was unable to bowl at full pace in the second innings of the Cape Town Test, where the tourists were able to hang on for a draw and retain their 1-0 lead.

Should the bowler be absent, his place will be taken by the uncapped Wayne Parnell.
