Flintoff 'working towards comeback'
28/1/2010
England cricketer Andrew Flintoff has spoken of how he intends to proceed with his rehabilitation work over the next six months after further knee surgery. The all-rounder, who retired from Test cricket last summer to concentrate on the shorter form of the game, told the BBC of his programme of fitness work in Dubai, where he has been based in recent months.
Flintoff explained that after expecting a comeback this year, he needed a further operation to deal with scar tissue and faces a long stint in the gym.
"The incentives in six months are so high I have to get on with it to drag myself out of bed in the morning to do the gym and do the rehab," he stated.
Flintoff predicted that it will not be until May that he is actually in the nets again.
Those recovering from knee surgery may find that ultrasound treatment aids their recovery.
Andrew Flintoff's Test match career ended last August when England beat Australia at the Oval to clinch the Ashes, with the all-rounder's main contribution on his last day being to run out Australian captain Ricky Ponting.
