Hamstring concern for Arshavin
11/2/2010
Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin could be set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in his club's 1-0 victory over Liverpool on last night (February 10th).The former Zenit St Petersburg player was substituted by Theo Walcott after 67 minutes with the strain, which was confirmed after the game by manager Arsene Wenger.
He said: "Arshavin has a hamstring problem... We have to make a scan on Arshavin tomorrow."
Wenger also noted that Samir Nasri had to come off because he felt sick after taking a blow to the head.
Those suffering from a muscular problem like a hamstring injury may find that using ultrasound equipment to treat the damage helps the muscle to recover faster than would otherwise be the case.
One footballer who has recovered from a hamstring strain is Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini.
The Argentinian missed the midweek defeat against West Bromwich Albion with the injury, but manager Chris Hughton said he will be available for the weekend game against Swansea City.
