Injury fears curtail player involvement

Two England cricketers have snubbed the lucrative IPL tournament in India, something that may ease concerns about players getting injuries.James Anderson and Stuart Broad have turned down offers to take part in the event, instead committing themselves to concentrating on their national team duties during a busy 2010.
The news comes after last year saw Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen taking part in the IPL, with the pair subsequently needing operations on knee and Achilles problems respectively.
As bowlers, Broad and Anderson could find a large physical workload leads to injuries, with the latter currently suffering with a knee problem on England's tour in South Africa.
Those who play sport and suffer persistent problems may find the use of ultrasound treatments helps them to keep playing.
Recognition of how over-work can lead to injuries is one reason for top international cricketers - including England's - having central contracts, which restricts the amount they play at domestic level.
