Lord's redevelopment to include sports injury clinic

18/11/2009
Lord's redevelopment to include sports injury clinic - Ultralieve ProA state-of-the-art sports injury clinic has been included in plans for a major redevelopment at Lord's.

The £400 million project will see the famous north London cricket venue increase its seating capacity to just under 37,000, while a new cricket academy will be built underground.

According to the Times, the subterranean development will also include a clinic for the treatment of sports injuries, as well as a gym, swimming pool, spa and squash courts.

Work is not expected to begin until 2011 and could take up to ten years to complete.

Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live this week, MCC chief executive Keith Bradshaw ruled out selling the naming rights to Lord's as a way of funding the redevelopment of the ground.

"There's no way we would rename Lord's. It's the home of cricket, the hallowed turf," he said.

Several England cricketers have been hit by injuries during the current tour of South Africa, with both Alistair Cook and Paul Collingwood missing the victory over South Africa A on Tuesday (November 17th) due to back pain.
