New arthritis drug backed - Ultralieve ProThe National Institute for Clinical Excellence (Nice) has backed the use of a new arthritis drug in Britain.

MabTherea, made by pharmaceuticals firm Roche, is to be licenced for use in treating rheumatoid arthritis in combination with existing drug methotrexate.

It said the new medicine should be used by those who had not responded well to other drugs.

Such a move could bring relief to many arthritis sufferers, but others may find that it is not the best treatment for them.
