Office workers 'can prevent back pain with exercise'

People who suffer from back pain may benefit from exercises that work their core muscles and upper back, a newspaper has advised. The Salisbury Post noted that many people who experience back and neck pain - especially if they work in front of computers - can take steps to correct the issue while they are on the job.
Office workers should take note of their posture - avoiding slouching, for example - and make sure they take regular breaks, during which they can do exercises such as shoulder rolls and side stretches.
Outside of the workplace, a stretch programme such as yoga, strength training and relaxation will all help to relax and lengthen muscles and help people avoid back pain.
Earlier this month, acupuncturist Esther Gokhale commented that improving posture is one of the best ways for people to address the issue of back pain, UPI.com reported.
She commented that there are more incidents of back pain in the US then there are in the central African nation of Chad and suggested this is because people living there work, sit, live and sleep in a way that maintains the correct posture.
