Pain sufferers turn to robots
10/12/2009
Those seeking to relieve muscle pain have been turning to robots, it has been revealed. In a feature on methods that have been developed in a bid to combat the problem, the Meilus Muscular Therapy & Sports Company has been trying out a new system whereby once the area in pain has been identified, robots are used to tend the place in question, AB Local reports.
A manipulation wand attached to the robot carries out the procedure, which is being used to treat conditions such as back pains, tennis elbow, sciatica and arthritis.
However, others may find that ultrasound treatment is the most effective and could be more convenient, with devices being mobile and accessible at any time of night or day.
A recent article in the Times noted this advantage, with sufferers from pain being able to administer treatment to themselves in the home, rather than only getting help when a physio is available.
