Rooney ankle 'not serious'
8/4/2010
Wayne Rooney's ankle is not badly injured, according to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The striker made a surprise return to the side in the Champions League tie against Bayern Munich last night (April 7th), but went down holding his ankle in the first half and spent much of the time limping before being replaced early in the second period.
However, the player is not likely to face a lengthy absence, Ferguson told the club website.
He said: "We're just having a look at the situation again. I don't think it's serious. It's just [a problem with] the tissue and a blood vessel that gets burst.
"We need to give him some more treatment but I'm sure he'll be okay for next week."
Those suffering with an ankle problem may wish to use ultrasound therapy to speed their recovery.
Rooney has scored 34 goals for the club in all competitions this season.
