Sunderland injury crisis easing
15/1/2010
Sunderland will be only able to welcome one of their walking wounded back to first team action this Saturday when they take on Premiership leaders Chelsea.Manager Steve Bruce told the club website that winger Bolo Zenden will be back in the squad, while others have resumed training but will not be fit for the weekend.
This list includes Craig Gordon, Andy Reid and Lee Cattermole, he said, with goalkeeper Gordon set for an outing with the reserve team next weekend.
Bruce predicted that Cattermole will be able to recover in time for next week's game.
Discussing his other injured players, he said: "Kieran Richardson, Anton Ferdinand and Nyron Nosworthy are not fit."
Those seeking to recover from an injury may find that ultrasound treatment helps them return to actions sooner.
Zenden spoke this week of his frustration at being out with hamstring problems since moving to the Stadium of Light.
He stated: "In the last five years I've suffered no muscle injuries, then I get two or three hamstring problems since joining Sunderland."
