England footballer John Terry has given the national side a scare after injuring his foot during training.

The Chelsea skipper suffered ankle pain at the club's training ground yesterday (Tuesday May 13th) and was taken to hospital for a scan.

However, the club has stated, he has not broken his foot and therefore there is no risk of him missing the World Cup.

Instead, Terry is optimistic that he will be able to return to training this week and be able to play in Saturday's FA Cup Final against Portsmouth.

Those suffering ankle and foot pain problems may find using an ultrasound probe helps to bring about a quick recovery.

Such a scare comes in a season when the national side has suffered a series of injury problems to key players in central defence.

One case is that of Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand, who has only started 12 league games this term after struggling with a back complaint.

However, he told the club website this week he is now optimistic the problem is behind him and he will not only feature in South Africa this summer, but also play regularly next season.
